PREHISTORIC PLANET IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
APPLE. CULTURESPACE. LIGHTROOM.
+
Commissioned by Lightroom London and 59 Studios, J.T. Child led the re-design and project direction for the European rollout of the landmark Apple natural history series Prehistoric Planet. Adapted from its original four-screen IMAX format at Lightroom's King's Cross venue for immersive spaces across the continent. Each venue presented a fundamentally different architectural challenge: different proportions, different screen configurations, different sight lines. With physical site visits limited to three per location, the studio developed a VR-led review methodology, building accurate 3D models of each space to virtually walk the content before a single frame was exported. Over five months, a team of seven animators reformatted every shot of the film to meet the specific demands of each environment a technically precise, creatively demanding undertaking that required deep spatial thinking.
